Puppies Poem

All puppies are alike; they are all born with the same
habits and grow according to the same rules of the game.

They all crawl into places where they have no business;
make seventy-seven puddles a day; tear people’s socks; eat
what they ought not to, for instance, chairs, strings, soap,
carpets, and fingers; sleep in the basket on the clean washing,
cry for help every five minutes; learn to bark; and are quiet
only when they are causing some irreparable damage. All this
is an inevitable law of Nature, valid for all the puppies in the
world.
